Hey people!! How's your life? I'm fine, studying for an exam, which is so easy I stopped studying. I'm also listening to the 37 Super Sentai openings. Right now, I'm listening to GoogleV. Yeah, I like them all. Now, I'm gonna discuss two things: City of Bones, and the History of Power Rangers. (Yeah, for those who thought I only watched toku shows, I'm also a bookworm)
***start spoiler alert for City of Bones, read at your own risk or skip to the Power Rangers part if you're interested***
Now, City of Bones was one of the best books I've ever read. My friends spoiled me the ending (Clary and Jace are siblings) but I didn't know why they were making such a fuss. I remember that Dorothea said Jace would fall in love with the wrong person, and he fell in love with Clary, who turned out to be his sister. So, if they are truly brother and sister, I'm starting to read incest, because there's no way I'm stopping to read this series. It's really cool: it's got werewolves, vampires (even though they lost my respect after Twilight), zombies, angels, demons, and more cool stuff.
Something that I kinda knew, but never truly expected was the relation between Clary's mother, Valentine, Luke and some other people. If you take the pregnancy and the marriage out, it mirrors Clary's story with Jace, Simon and some other people as well. Just look at it. Jocelyn had a best friend, Luke, who was in love with her. Jocelyn loved another person, and Luke had to cope with it. Clary had a best friend, Simon, who was also in love with her, but Clary was in love with Jace. The only difference was that Simon did tell Clary he's been in love with her for 10 years.
We also have the Lightwoods, Jace's adoptive family and best friends. We have Alec, whom I didn't like at first because he was very mean to Clary, but then I discovered that it was jealousy because Alec is in love with Jace (yeah, he's gay, got a problem?) and I started to understand him, since it was unrequited love, but I know he'll find love someday, with his parents' approval and all that. Now, I like Alec a little bit more. As for Isabelle, she was cold, not only to Clary, but to Simon as well. Well, at least that's the impresion it gave me. Then, Simon said he used Isabelle to get Clary jealous. Don't worry, if things go well, Simon and Isabelle will end up together. At least I hope. Please no spoilers!! ;)
Overall, this was an amazing book, and I hope I can get to read City of Ashes soon. Until I get it, I'll keep on reading Harry Potter, but I really want to see how Jace and Clary act around each other now. ;)
***end of spoilers*** =) Now for the History of Power Rangers part.
I found Linkara's version of History of Power Rangers. While this web series is actually a review of all the Power Rangers seasons, their stories, and importance of the characters and cool things in the plot, there's another version in Spanish called 'La historia de los Power Rangers' (duh!!) that actually covers production, filming and involves Super Sentai a little bit more. If you know Spanish, I highly recomend you to watch it. It covers from Mighty Morphin to RPM, since the last part was out by the time RPM was airing its lasts episodes.
Anyway, I as was watching it, Linkara was saying some things that I wanted to get out of my chest, and that's what I'm going to do now.
I started to watch Power Rangers with Wild Force, when I was 8 years old, so literally, I've known the Power Rangers for half of my life, since I turned 16 a month ago. I was watching it along with Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder and instanly loved it. Then, SPD premiered, but I changed houses, so I couldn't watch it, or the series afterwards. I remember wanting to watch Operation Overdrive very badly, since it premiered 2 days after my 10th birthday. I watched SPD and Mystic Force in an open channel in my country. But I couldn't watch anything afterwards, because I entered middle school, and I was in very early and out very late, so no Power Rangers for me. I discovered Super Sentai while Gokaiger was airing, thanks to Samurai, Kaoru and Lauren, since I was excited for a female red ranger, and I discovered why people hated Power Rangers.
Power Rangers is based on a japanese show named Super Sentai. I discovered slowly, so it didn't crush my childhood, but I told one of my friends, and he was a little surprised. People seemed to prefer Super Sentai over Power Rangers, and I don't truly understand why. If not for Power Rangers, nobody would have known Super Sentai. At least anyone born in the late 80's or 90's. I was born in 1997, the same year Turbo aired, so no, I didn't watch the Zordon era, and even though people say that you need to watch it to truly be a Power Rangers fan, I think that's stupid, since it's out of my hands. As much as I want to watch the Zordon era, it's not complete on the internet. The episodes are all mixed up, and out of order. I know who the originals were, I watched some random episodes, the movie, and I know who Tommy Oliver, Jason Lee Scott and Kimberly Ann Hart are, so I'm a true and proud Power Ranger fan, thank you very much.
For several years, Mystic Force and Wild Force have been my favorite seasons, and even though their post is now being shared with RPM, I don't know why it gets so much hate. Is it for the theme songs? I like them. Not love them, but I remember them from when I was little.
I hate when people compare a season to its Sentai conterpart. Super Sentai is Super Sentai and Power Rangers is Power Rangers. It's not the same. Same suits, same arsenal, same zords, and sometimes same villain footage, but overall, it's not the same!! Maybe Samurai was a lot like Shinkenger, but it had its differences. For example: Takeru and Kaoru were strangers, Jayden and Lauren were siblings. Chiaki at the end goes to college, Mike goes with Emily back to the farm. Ryuunosuke was a kabuki actor, Kevin a swimmer. Mako has her parents, Mia has her brother. Genta's a sushi seller, Antonio's a fisher who likes to cook it, and sells it for a living. See? Differences people!!
Maybe that's why I liked Go-Onger and RPM so much. No matter how much you want to compare them, it's practically impossible to do so, because Go-Onger is comedy and RPM is drama. They're both balanced and good shows, but RPM has a darker edge, while Go-Onger is cute and funny. Some people hate Go-Onger for this, but that's not a valid reason. I mean, I know not everyone has to like Go-Onger or RPM, but people's arguments make no sense to me.
As for Boukenger and Operation Overdrive. I know it wasn't the best season, and people have the right to dislike it. I have some respect for the season because it wasn't an exact copy of Boukengers and I mean the characters, especially Natsuki and Ronny. People complain about how Natsuki is cute and sweet while Ronny is competitive and all that. Nasuki is not Ronny!!
People hate it when it's alike but also when it's different. I made two Power Rangers vs Super Sentai shows, but it's just to highlight differences and similarities, not to complain.
Seriously, I don't understand humanity. Bye bye.
Ps. Now I'm listening to the Dairanger theme song. And I know I will be really hated for this blog. I just know it.
Pps. I dropped Kamen Rider Black, and now I'm watching both Dairanger and Kamen Rider W. And if this blog has no photos, that's because I want you to read everything!! Also, sorry if you're offended.
Ppps. something you people may have forgotten already: I'm a girl!! A 16 year old girl!!!
